Violent Clashes Erupt Between Farmers and Nomads in Tiznit Over Grazing Rights

As last year, the farmers and nomadic herders clashed again last Saturday near Tiznit. The battle was such that the local authorities had to intervene, promising the opposing camps a fair and appropriate solution.
The return of the rain and the abundance of vegetation that should bring happiness to all has once again been a source of bloody battle between nomadic herders and sedentary farmers in the city of Tiznit. The former demanding the right to graze their livestock on the "vast lands of God," while the latter are not in favor of the trampling of their cultivated fields by the herd, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
The silence of the authorities led last Saturday to a march in which women, children and the elderly of the commune of Al Maadar Al Kabir participated, supported by local civil society actors, elected officials and members of the Akal Coordination, who came out to express their anger at the invasion of the nomads.
Even if the gendarmerie agents had difficulty separating the two camps, no casualties are reported, the daily notes, stressing that a provincial commission has been set up under the direction of the governor of the province of Tiznit to try to regulate grazing, in order to avoid other conflicts in the future.
