Moroccan City of Tiznit Imposes 15-Day Lockdown as COVID-19 Cases Surge

Tiznit joins the list of cities facing a tightening of preventive measures, following the surge in contamination cases in the region.
The public authorities of Tiznit have announced that new measures will come into force for a period of 15 days to strengthen the prevention against the spread of the new coronavirus (Covid-19).
According to the decision made public on Friday, entry and exit to Tiznit will be mandatory with an exceptional travel authorization, cafes are prohibited from broadcasting football matches, gardens, public squares and children’s play areas, as well as shops and cafes must close at 8:00 p.m., reports the MAP.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the rigorous control of compliance with preventive measures such as wearing masks and physical distancing. Offenders will be prosecuted with the full force of the law, the same source said.
