The United States is preparing a football tour in Morocco, but is keeping the cities and guests secret
The United States embassy in Rabat is preparing a football-focused tour in several Moroccan cities. The program will last one week, but the identities of the invited American personalities and the selected stops remain confidential.
The project appears in a call for tenders published by the U.S. Department of State. Launched on August 25, the procedure was updated on Wednesday, September 9, to postpone the deadline for submitting bids from September 11 to September 15, 2026.
The embassy is seeking a company capable of handling all the logistics, operations and organization of the events. The provider will support this “Sports Envoy Soccer” program for one week, presented as a traveling operation in several cities across the kingdom.

The “Sports Envoy” initiative is part of American sports diplomacy. It enables the State Department to send athletes and coaches to local communities to lead matches and workshops. This initiative comes as Morocco itself uses football as a diplomatic tool in Africa.
The cities and guests still unknown
The call for tenders reveals neither the cities selected nor the exact dates of the tour. The names and number of the American athletes expected have likewise not been disclosed. No estimated amount appears in the public notice.
The contract has not yet been awarded. The U.S. administration plans to select the lowest-priced acceptable bid and reserves the possibility of directly appointing the provider based on the proposals received, without opening negotiations.

The choice of football offers the United States a significant visibility lever in a country that will host the 2030 World Cup and where the sport is already being used as a tourism showcase. The details of the itinerary and the identities of the envoys should become known after the contract is awarded.
