Unidentified Migrant’s Body Washes Ashore in Ceuta, Buried After Autopsy

A body in an advanced state of decomposition was found on the beach of Ceuta. It was buried on Saturday in the Sidi Embarek cemetery. No identification documents were found on it.
The body was found on the beach of Ceuta. The identity of the person could not be revealed. The autopsy performed made it possible to know that he died by drowning and that the body had already spent some time in the water. A prayer was organized in memory of the unknown, before proceeding with his burial, next to other migrants whose bodies had also been found on the coast of Ceuta.
The judicial police of the Civil Guard open investigations each time on these deceased persons of whom nothing is known, in order to retrace their stories and above all, to inform their families who are waiting for news of them.
Many Moroccans, candidates for immigration, have lost their lives trying to reach Ceuta by swimming. Others have disappeared at sea and their bodies have not been found. Cases of death and disappearance at sea have multiplied since the closure of the Moroccan borders due to the Covid-19 health crisis.
