UAE and Morocco Accused of $15 Million Campaign to Destabilize Algeria

Information indicates a destabilization of Algeria by the United Arab Emirates-Morocco alliance. An Emirati fund would be used to conduct a campaign in this direction.
The United Arab Emirates would have transferred 15 million euros to Morocco to launch a vast media campaign and another on social networks, with the aim of disrupting the relations between Algeria and the coastal countries. This orchestrated campaign would aim to spread misinformation and biased propaganda, fostering a tense atmosphere in Algeria’s relations with the coastal countries, reports the Algerian radio, citing well-informed sources. Israel would also be involved in this enterprise. Concretely, the 15 million euros would be used to acquire shares in certain media in France and Africa, thus amplifying the impact of their discourse, specifies the same source.

The United Arab Emirates are carrying out "hostile actions" against Algeria, reported the Algerian newspaper Al-Khabar in July 2022, adding that Abu Dhabi has concocted for the Moroccan authorities a surveillance program targeting Algeria and has moreover tried to persuade the countries of the Maghreb region to normalize their relations, thus weakening Algiers. The hostility directed against Algeria, facilitated by the Emirati officials, consists in particular in equipping Morocco with a sophisticated surveillance system designed to spy on the eastern neighbor, it is noted.
At the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, King Mohammed VI made an official visit to the United Arab Emirates in early December. On the sidelines of this visit, several agreements and promises of agreements were signed in Abu Dhabi by the two personalities. The memorandum of agreements covers rail transport, the development of Moroccan airports, real estate, tourism, energy, but also education, food security, access to water, etc.
