Turkey’s Exports to Africa Surge, Morocco Emerges as Key Destination

Morocco is cited as one of the main destinations for Turkish exports to Africa. In 2022, the volume of these exports reached $3 billion, making the kingdom the second destination on the continent.
In the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Turkey has turned its exports towards Africa, reports the Anadolu agency, which recalls that last year African countries accounted for 8.6% of the country’s total exports.
According to the figures, Turkish trade to Africa increased by 12.3% last year compared to 2021, reaching a record level of $21.8 billion. At the same time, Turkish exports to European countries brought in $93.6 billion, and $32.8 billion to Middle Eastern countries.
Among the main destinations for Turkish exports to Africa, the media cites Egypt with $3.9 billion in 2022. Morocco, for its part, ranks second with $3 billion, followed by Libya ($2.4 billion), Algeria ($1.9 billion) and South Africa ($1.6 billion). These exports to the continent mainly concerned chemical products.
