Tunisian Mehdi Nafti Named New Coach of Wydad Casablanca

Since Monday, the new coach of Wydad de Casablanca is known. It is the Tunisian Mehdi Nafti, appointed to replace Houcine Ammouta.
The former Tunisian international was finally chosen by the club’s management, at the expense of the Swiss Christian Gross, who was strongly tipped for the position, reports the weekly Challenge. The latter was sidelined due to his salary demands. The former coach of Schalke 04 demanded a monthly salary of 500,000 DH in addition to 500,000 more for each victory at the Club World Cup scheduled in Morocco next month, the media specifies.
Nicknamed the "Bad Boy", the Franco-Tunisian Mehdi Nafti, 44 years old, will have the heavy task of leading the African champion club to the Mundialito, scheduled for next February. He can be renewed for another season, indicates a statement from the management.
Recently dismissed from the management of Levante, who play in the Spanish second division, for his mixed results, Nafti is a former player of Birmingham and Racing Santander and African Nations Cup champion in 2004. The Tunisian is expected by the thousands of supporters of the red and white club, currently second in the Botola Pro D1 with 18 points. He will receive a monthly salary of 200,000 dirhams.
