TUI offers free changes to the French but penalizes Belgians traveling to Morocco

While vacationers are waiting cautiously due to the war in the Middle East, the French subsidiary of the tour operator has launched the "Plan B" operation, reports L’Écho touristique. This initiative allows adjusting one’s stay free of charge up to fifteen days before departure. A generosity that abruptly stops at the border: in Belgium, the management maintains its course and categorically refuses any new commercial action aimed at reassuring the clientele.

To obtain flexibility, tourists from the flat country have no choice but to invoke the standard clauses of their contract, limiting changes to twenty-eight days before departure, or to pay a surcharge. Assuming this line of conduct, the spokesperson Piet Demeyere justifies that "the TUI Flex product has indeed existed for several years and can be useful given the current situation", at an additional cost starting at thirty euros per person.

However, this famous paid flexibility has drastic limits. Officially sold to deal with unforeseen or family circumstances, this option is simply prohibited for vacationers traveling to Morocco. The kingdom is not an exception: Tunisia, Senegal, Kenya or even the Caribbean and Mexico are subject to the exact same exclusion policy from the tour operator.
