This time, the schedule is set. Starting Sunday, 28 March 2027, TUI Airways will fly directly between London Gatwick Airport and Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport, with three round trips a week. The flights will be operated by Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, according to schedules filed by the airline and detailed on 14 October by specialist website AeroRoutes.

The travel group announced the new route as early as September, without specifying its frequency or exact launch date. Both details are now known. The service will begin with the start of the 2027 summer aviation season.

However, TUI is not entering an untapped market. Air Arabia Maroc already operates flights between Tangier and Gatwick, as does Royal Air Maroc, which resumed the route in 2023 after a 14-year break. Ryanair also serves Tangier from another London airport, Stansted.

Tangier gains a new airline amid competition

The launch is part of the group’s broader expansion. According to its official programme, TUI will add eight destinations from Gatwick, bringing the total number of cities served to 59. Tangier joins Athens, Palermo, Valencia and Djerba among the new destinations.

The airline also plans to expand sales of standalone flight tickets alongside its package holidays. This makes the new route an interesting option for travellers heading to Morocco without booking a holiday package.

Fares and detailed schedules should be checked at the time of booking. The three weekly flights and launch date are already listed in the schedules announced for summer 2027, subject to possible adjustments by the airline.
