700,000 trips: Morocco becomes the top destination outside Europe for residents of Belgium
With 700,345 trips recorded in 2025, Morocco is the sixth foreign destination for residents of Belgium and the top destination located outside Europe. These stays generated nearly 15 million overnight stays and €706 million in spending.
The final figures were published this Thursday, September 10, by Statbel. They cover trips involving at least one overnight stay taken by people residing in Belgium.
With 700,345 trips, Morocco ranks behind France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Germany. It nevertheless comes ahead of the United Kingdom, Portugal, Austria and Greece, thus establishing itself as the leading non-European destination.

Stays in Morocco totaled 14.93 million overnight stays, representing an average duration of just over three weeks. Travelers spent €706.2 million in the kingdom, which represents slightly more than €1,000 per trip.
More than 335,000 tourist trips to Morocco
The total of 700,345 includes vacations, as well as visits to family or friends, business trips and other personal reasons. Considering only strictly tourist trips, Statbel recorded 335,027 to Morocco, for 6.4 million overnight stays and €375 million in spending.

In total, residents of Belgium took 31.2 million trips involving an overnight stay in 2025, including 21.8 million abroad. France remains their favorite destination, with 6.85 million trips, far ahead of the Netherlands and Spain.
These figures confirm the importance of the Belgian market in a year in which Morocco welcomed a record 19.8 million visitors.
