The French are traveling less, but increasingly choosing Morocco

The figures come from the EdV-Orchestra Observatory, which monitors organized travel sales. They therefore do not cover all trips taken individually by French travelers.

For departures between July 1 and July 28, Morocco ranks as the sixth destination and recorded a 6.4% increase in the number of bookings. At the same time, France declined by 7.2%, Greece by 6.6%, Tunisia by 3.2% and Italy by 8.5%.

The decline is even more pronounced for several competing destinations: Portugal plunged by 20.8%, Egypt by 22.5% and Turkey by 35.3%. Among the Top 10 destinations, Spain (+4.1%), Morocco and, above all, Albania (+288.2%) posted gains.

Morocco remains sixth for August departures

The trend remains positive for August. For stays booked between January 1 and July 28, with departure scheduled for August, Morocco once again ranks sixth and is up 3.2% compared with the previous year.

Once again, several major destinations declined: France by 12.5%, Greece by 11.8%, Tunisia by 6.1%, Italy by 14.3% and Turkey by 17%. Spain, for its part, increased by 3.5%.

This increase for Morocco comes amid a less dynamic French market than in 2025. For July departures, tour operators’ sales volume fell by around 4.5% and the number of bookings by 6%, despite a slightly higher average basket, close to 2,100 euros.

Morocco is therefore continuing to gain ground in the organized travel tracked by Orchestra: +6.4% for July departures, followed by another +3.2% for departures booked in August, while many of the main summer destinations are declining.
