Transgender Person Brutally Attacked in Tangier, Morocco; Four Arrested in Suspected Hate Crime

In a press release, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) specified that the events took place on the night of Friday to Saturday, November 12, 2022 around 3 a.m. On his Twitter account, journalist Hicham Tahir sounded the alert. "A video has been circulating for a few hours, of a #LGBTphobic attack in #Tanger (#Morocco). The video is unbearably violent. Several men take turns beating the victim. The elements of the prefectural service of the judicial police of Tangier carried out search operations which resulted in the arrest of four suspects (one adult and three minors) aged between 13 and 24 years old. After their arrest, the adult was placed in custody, while the three other defendants were placed under police surveillance. Investigators are working to determine the motives and circumstances of this attack.
