Tragic Night at Tangier Casino: Elderly Gambler’s Death Sparks Investigation
The public prosecutor’s office has ordered a thorough investigation following the sudden death of a septuagenarian, which occurred after a crisis in the middle of the night of gambling at the Tangier casino.
A tragedy occurred on the night of Friday to Saturday at the Tangier casino. A septuagenarian, known for her regular attendance at the gaming tables, suffered a sudden crisis. Emergency services quickly intervened and she was admitted to a private clinic in the city. But the victim died before receiving the necessary care, reports the daily Al Akhbar. The competent public prosecutor’s office has ordered a thorough investigation to elucidate the exact circumstances of the death. It also prescribed a forensic examination to determine the cause of death.
The Tangier casino has already experienced similar incidents. Players have suffered heart attacks or collapsed after losing large sums of money. This is the case of a national from a Gulf country who had fainted after losing several million dirhams during a game. His state of health had required hospitalization, which did not go smoothly. In order to better cope with these incidents, the management of the hotel that owns the casino has concluded a partnership with a private clinic in Tangier, to ensure immediate care for players who suffer from heart attacks or disturbances related to the stress of losses, but also to protect the reputation of the complex, which is frequented by a clientele of businessmen and investors, Moroccan or not.
The Tangier casino sometimes faces criticism from several families. These Tangier families have filed complaints against the establishment, denouncing the ravages of gambling addiction on their daily lives: breakup of households, social tensions, and even an increase in divorce cases. Following these complaints, the management would have put in place a special procedure. Players wishing to end their addiction can sign a document prohibiting their return to the casino.
