Tragic Hiking Accident: 3 Moroccan Tourists Die in Fall Near Mount Toubkal

Three Moroccan tourists died after falling several dozen meters in the Al Haouz region, on the road to the Toubkal.
The tragedy took place in the Al Haouz region, on the road to the Toubkal on Saturday, January 7. While trying to descend a mountain slope near the village of Tizi Oussem in the rural commune of Ouirgane, three Moroccan tourists - including a young tourist guide from the region - who were part of a group of ten hikers descending the Talat n’fri massif (3938 m) towards the Lépinay refuge of Tazaghart, a stage in the ascent to the Toubkal (4 167 m), died, reports H24info.

Informed, the local authorities as well as the elements of the royal gendarmerie of the Asni center arrived at the scene of the accident. The civil protection elements, for their part, recovered the bodies of the victims, which were then transferred to the morgue in Marrakech. An investigation has been opened to determine the causes and circumstances of this tragedy.
