Tragic Flood Aftermath: Teacher Drowns Crossing Destroyed Bridge in Northern Morocco

The body of a teacher serving in a primary school in the Jbel Lahbib commune in Tetouan was discovered by the inhabitants of the commune. The cause of this death is drowning on a bridge destroyed by the recent floods.
While she was returning from Tangier where she had spent the school holidays at her parents’ home, a teacher died by drowning on Sunday, December 11, while trying to cross a bridge destroyed by the recent floods that hit the region, reports the Arabic daily Assabah. Informed of this macabre discovery, the firefighters arrived at the scene of the tragedy. They transferred the teacher’s remains to the morgue. For their part, the gendarmerie services have opened an investigation to determine the circumstances of this tragedy.
Following this accidental death, the vigilance and rescue committees are mobilized to ensure the safety of citizens, respond to calls for help and intervene at black spots, specifies the same source. Citizens, for their part, are called upon to avoid crossing the wadis which have experienced a sharp rise in water levels following the torrential rains of recent days.
