Tragic Collision in Northern Morocco Claims Lives of Belgian-Moroccan Couple

A couple of Moroccans living abroad, originally from Houthalen-Helchteren (a Dutch-speaking municipality in Belgium), died in a road accident in Driouch, in northern Morocco.
As they were heading towards the city center, their car was involved in a fatal collision, reports the Flemish daily Het Belang van Limburg.
The disappearance of the two Belgian citizens of Moroccan origin has deeply affected the community of Houthalen-Helchteren, especially since one of their children works at the town hall. The mayor of the municipality, Alain Yzermans, said he was "very shocked" to learn of the tragedy. He also contacted their son to convey the support of the municipality.
The victims’ family has flown to Morocco following the announcement of the tragedy. "Between the recent earthquake in Morocco and now this tragic accident, our municipality is in mourning, especially our Moroccan community," added Mayor Yzermans.
