Tragic Accident at Moroccan Festival: Elderly Horseman Dies After Rifle Malfunction

Last Sunday, during the annual moussem of Moulay Aissa Ben Driss in the Beni Mellal region, a horseman died after being surprised by an accidental shot from his defective rifle.
In the rural commune of Moulay Aissa Ben Driss, during the annual moussem, a horseman over 80 years old died after being frightened and injured by a shot from his own rifle. He would have fallen off his horse, and died from his injuries.
Al Akhbar, based on the testimony of people who witnessed the scene, explains that the horseman was there to participate with his group in one of the competitions organized during this moussem. The shot from his malfunctioning rifle would have caused him a head injury. Fallen from the horse, he lost consciousness. And he was therefore taken to the hospital.
Placed in intensive care, the care provided could not save his life. The seriousness of the injuries was such that he could not be saved.
Given the nature of the "accident", an investigation was immediately initiated to determine the exact reasons for the defectiveness of the rifle and to study the various other possible scenarios. The gendarmerie services proceeded to collect the testimonies of many witnesses as well as other horsemen present on the spot.
