Tragedy in Morocco: Four Young Men Die While Cleaning Well in Tafraout

The city of Tafraout is still in shock following the death of four young people who tried to repair the pump inside a well. Once inside, they were unable to withstand the high temperature and lack of oxygen. An investigation has been opened to determine the real causes and circumstances of this tragedy.
The daily Al Akhbar, which reports this drama citing local sources contacted by telephone, indicated that the victims are two brothers and two of their friends. One of the four young people descended into the well to clear it of certain impurities that were hindering the pump, but the tightness of the well and the high temperature suffocated him and prompted him to call for help from the three others. His brother hurried to descend into the well to help him, but he was surprised, in turn, by the narrowness of the well and the lack of oxygen.
As the two brothers were slow to come out of the well, their two friends, worried, went down to join them. But they realized all too late the difficult conditions inside the well, eight meters deep and not exceeding one and a half meters in diameter. The four friends died, unable to breathe properly.
According to the local sources contacted by Al Akhbar, it was a fifth friend who had not gone down into the well who alerted the local authorities, who in turn called the firefighters. An investigation has been opened by the local authorities to determine the reasons for the death of the four young people. An autopsy is also planned.
