Tragedy in Kenitra: Young Soldier’s Suicide at Military Barracks Prompts Investigation

A soldier in his early twenties committed suicide this weekend inside a military barracks in Kenitra. An investigation has been opened.
According to Assabah, this soldier was found by his comrades, hanging from an iron bar. After alerting the commander of the barracks, there was an understandable commotion and state of alert.
According to Assabah, high-ranking army officers first examined the suicide themselves "then authorized the gendarmerie investigators, after consulting the competent prosecutor’s office, to enter in order to carry out the preliminary inspection procedures, which revealed no trace of violence on the body of the deceased". Civil and military jurisdictions would be closely following this investigation.
An autopsy was ordered to determine the exact cause of death and members of the soldier’s family (who lives in Salé) were heard by the authorities to learn more about his private life and his relationships with his loved ones and try to understand the reasons that led him to end his life in this way.
