Tourists Outraged by $500 Bill at Marrakech’s Jamaa el Fna Square Restaurant

Disgusted by the exorbitant amount of a bill that smelled of a scam, tourists did not hesitate to cry scandal and film a restaurant on Jamaa el fna square, which offered them a 5,000 dirham bill.
For a few dishes ordered in a restaurant in Jamaa el Fna, eight tourists had the unpleasant surprise of having to pay a 5,000 dirham bill. According to Al Akhbar, they decided to film the scene and post it on social media.
Denouncing the scam and crying scandal, the tourists demanded the breakdown of the bill from the restaurant owner. The latter did not hesitate to bargain, offering a 1,000 dirham reduction before finally accepting the sum of 3,000 dirhams.
According to the daily, the restaurant is one of the most renowned on the square, and would be rented for 100,000 dirhams per month, an amount that could justify the displayed rates, estimates the newspaper.
