Tourism Rebounds in Northern Morocco as Coastal Towns See 5% Visitor Surge

After a period of gloom due to the surge in prices of services in restaurants, cafes and shops, and difficulties related to transportation, tourism is picking up again in northern Morocco, particularly in Tangier.
The number of visitors on the Tamuda Bay coastline stretching from Martil to Fnideq has increased over the past two weeks by more than 5% compared to previous seasons. Proof of this, the towns and beaches of the north are currently experiencing significant influx and congestion, particularly on the coastline stretching from Oued Laou in the province of Tétouan to Fnideq, passing through Martil and M’diq as well as the associated beaches. The various road axes connecting these cities, as well as within them, are experiencing traffic jams sometimes several kilometers long.
The number of overnight stays in classified hotels has also increased during the second half of July and the first week of August. Similarly, an increase in electricity and water consumption has been recorded, indicating an increase in the number of people coming to spend their holidays in this region, with an increase of more than 5%.
Among the tourists are many Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) who arrived in Morocco as part of the Marhaba operation. In fact, a notable increase in the number of MREs has been recorded, whether through the airports of Tangier and Tétouan, the border crossing of Bab Sebta, or the port of Tanger Med. The growing increase in the number of tourists going to the seaside destinations under the prefecture of M’diq-Fnideq has been recorded since the second week of July and the beginning of this month of August, it is specified.
