Toulouse FC Player Suspended After Sexist Remark to City Official

Zakaria Aboukhlal finds himself at the center of controversy once again. After refusing to wear a jersey in rainbow colors during a Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) initiative against homophobia, the Moroccan player is now at the center of an altercation with Laurence Arribagé, deputy mayor of Toulouse in charge of sports.
The incident occurred during the speech of Téfécé coach Philippe Montanier at the Capitole. While Laurence Arribagé, the city’s sports official, was asking the players to remain silent, Zakaria Aboukhlal allegedly uttered a phrase that quickly sparked controversy: "At my place, women don’t talk to men like that." The player then vehemently demanded an apology from the municipal deputy.
In the face of these events, the Toulouse FC claims to have taken immediate action, deciding to sideline the Moroccan player and announced the launch of an internal investigation to shed light on this altercation. In a statement released on Monday evening, the Toulouse club described the allegations as "serious" and specified that Zakaria Aboukhlal would now train separately from the professional group.
