Thousands Rally in Paris to Honor Moroccan Flag and Green March Anniversary

Thousands of Moroccans residing in Europe gathered on Sunday, November 10, 2019 on the Place du Trocadéro in Paris to defend the national flag as part of the commemoration of the 44th anniversary of the Green March.
In a festive atmosphere, the Moroccans Residing Abroad (MREs) chose Paris, where the red flag had been desecrated on October 26, to express their indignation and deep attachment to the Kingdom of Morocco and its attributes.
For Saïd Laatiriss, President of the Association, Dynamic Maroc, also the initiator alongside several associations of this large gathering, it was a question of celebrating the "national flag which was for the 350,000 peaceful marchers of the Green March a unifying thread and a unifying force to liberate our southern provinces."
"Through our gathering today," he added, "we relive this sacred union that has been our strength and renew our oath for a united and indivisible Morocco under the enlightened leadership of our King."
Saïd Laatiriss urged his compatriots: "Do not give in to those who try through cowardly and abject maneuvers to harm us" because "their actions remain not only vain but, on the contrary, they comfort and strengthen our patriotic momentum and our love for our King, our country and our flag."
It was a "blasphemy against the sacredness of national sovereignty and an offense to the dignity of all Moroccans wherever they are," the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) had reacted, following the desecration of the Moroccan flag during a march organized in Paris on October 26, 2019.
