Moroccan Minister’s Speech in Italy Sparks Controversy Over Language and Loyalty

As part of the Rassemblement National des Indépendants party campaign, the Minister of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries delivered a speech to nearly a thousand Moroccans residing in Milan, Italy.
According to Maghreb24, Aziz Akhannouch showed a language gap that aroused the anger of Internet users and Moroccans around the world. In his speech, he called for the fight against slanderers.
"There is only God, the Homeland and the King. And those who think of slandering and undermining the institutions have no place in our country," he said, adding that "whoever wants our country must respect its institutions and democracy, because we will never move forward with insults."
These remarks were not to the liking of Internet users, nor to the members of the Moroccan community in Italy, considering them as a form of denigration of the role of justice and the judiciary in the country.
By calling for a review of the education of Moroccans who would not conform to the rules, the RNI president has incurred the wrath of citizens who describe his remarks as a return to the years of lead and repression of freedom of expression.
