Moroccan Parliament Condemns Flag Desecration at Paris Protest

Reactions continue after the desecration of the Moroccan flag this weekend in Paris during a demonstration. On Monday, October 28, the Moroccan Parliament responded to this act described as "cowardly and childish".
The national anthem resounded in the hemicycle to show the pride and dignity of the Moroccan people standing under their flag despite its desecration on Parisian soil.
According to Hespress, ministers and parliamentarians, in the presence of the Head of Government, Saâd Eddine El Othmani, took up the words of the poet Ali Squalli Houssaini to respond to the trampling of the Moroccan flag.
The national flag was trampled by several demonstrators and burned by a Rif independence activist during a rally on Saturday in Paris to commemorate the death of Mohcine Fikri.
The Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) immediately condemned this desecration, which constitutes a "serious attack on one of the symbols of national sovereignty and the dignity of Moroccans" both in the Kingdom and elsewhere. For the CCME, "the desecration of the national flag is a criminal act that has nothing to do with freedom of expression".
