They abandon their daughter on a bus in Spain and attempt to flee to Morocco

The agents of the Foreign Brigade carried out the arrest at the end of November at the Loiu terminal. The suspects had drawn the attention of the authorities after visiting the reception center where the teenager resides. Informed of their intention to leave Spanish territory, the investigators launched the operation just before the boarding of their flight.

The origin of the case dates back to February. The parents had organized the trip of their daughter by leaving her alone on an intercity bus traveling between Granada and Bilbao. Left to her own devices upon arrival in the Biscayan capital, the minor had turned to the social services. The care was immediate, activating the child protection protocols and leading to her placement under guardianship.

The investigations revealed a worrying precedent. This same couple had already proceeded in the same way a few years earlier to abandon their eldest son, then a minor. Following their custody, the two defendants were presented to the judicial authority and the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office. They were released with charges against them, while the young girl remains under the protection of the social services. The police note an increase in these cases of abandonment of foreign children without local family ties.
