Moroccan Parents Abandon 10-Year-Old at Barcelona Airport, Sparking Outrage and Police Intervention

A Moroccan couple living abroad (MRE) abandoned their 10-year-old son at the Barcelona-El Prat airport to go on vacation to Morocco, causing a strong outcry.
An unusual incident at the Barcelona-El Prat airport. As they were about to fly to Morocco, Moroccan parents realized that their 10-year-old son’s passport was no longer valid. They then decided to travel without him, in order not to miss their flight. They temporarily abandoned him at the airport and contacted a relative to come and pick up the child. Having understood what was happening, the airport staff reported the presence of the unaccompanied child to the authorities. Subsequently, the police prevented the parents from taking their flight to Casablanca. After the intervention, the couple and their son were taken to the airport police station.
In a video published on TikTok, an air traffic controller recounts the scene. "The boy explained that his parents were on the plane, gone on vacation to their country of origin. How can you leave a 10-year-old child alone in a terminal because he can’t board due to a paperwork issue?" she indignantly exclaims. A scene that moves her: "Apparently, for them, it was normal. Not for me, and even less for the police. I’ve seen a lot of things in my job, but this is really unimaginable. As a mother, I am stunned." The video has accumulated more than 329,000 views.
