Thales to Invest $35 Million in Morocco, Creating 150 Cybersecurity Jobs

The French group Thales, a world specialist in cybersecurity, will strengthen its presence in Morocco through a new investment worth more than 350 million dirhams dedicated to the outsourcing sector.
In this regard, a memorandum of understanding has been signed between the management and the State represented by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Public Administration Reform, concerning the creation of a new nearshore center in Morocco, to serve its international clients.
This will be added to the group’s sixth international cybersecurity operational center, inaugurated last March, the press release from the group states, specifying that the new entity will allow the creation of nearly 150 direct jobs.
"This agreement strengthens our presence of more than forty years in the Kingdom and we plan to open a new office in Casablanca in 2023," said the Chairman and CEO of Thales Holding Maroc, Hicham Alj, specifying that this center will serve as a direct link to the cybersecurity market in Africa but also to assist the group in its international projects.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ghita Mezzour pointed out that Morocco ranks among the top three outsourcing destinations on the Continent, and has attracted global IT giants, adding that this strategic sector currently generates more than 13 billion dirhams in turnover, employs more than 125,000 employees and currently has more than 1,200 companies, including more than 100 global references.
