Tetouan Businessman Arrested for Online Defamation of Public Figures

Two individuals, including an influential businessman, have been detained following a case of defamation of public figures via social networks in Tetouan.
According to details reported by the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia, the two defendants are suspected of having published "degrading" content and sometimes containing "screenshots" of private discussions of two local elected officials and other influential personalities in the region.
At the opening of the investigation conducted by the police supported by experts, a first suspect was arrested in Martil following information provided to the investigators by a victim. The young man, who admitted to being the one who published the incriminating texts on fake accounts, cited several accomplices, including an events professional, the Arabic-language daily reports, also noting that the investigations are still ongoing to dismantle all the members of the network.
