Two Teens Die in Moroccan Rainstorm Tragedy as Flooding Hits Taroudant Region

The heavy rains of June 22 killed two people in Taroudant, in southeastern Morocco. The victims are teenagers.

The lifeless bodies of two 15 and 16-year-old teenagers were recovered by the royal gendarmerie and civil protection services after four hours of rescue attempts. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday in a pond following thunderstorms, reports 2M, specifying that the two girls fell into the pond under "mysterious circumstances". This incident occurred just a day after a driver drowned while driving in a canal in the same region.

The thunderstorms have hit several Moroccan provinces in recent days. In an orange weather alert bulletin, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) had warned on Tuesday that locally heavy thunderstorms (25-40 mm) were expected from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. in several provinces including Taroudant.
