Teenage Migrant Dies in Tragic Accident at Spanish Port of Ceuta

A 15-year-old Moroccan minor, who wanted to illegally immigrate to Europe, died in the port of Ceuta on Thursday, February 14. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy.
The young Moroccan minor, Ilias E., died in the afternoon of February 14 after being seriously injured in the head. He would have died very quickly according to Elfarodeceuta, despite the presence of rescue workers on the spot.
He had been living in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta for two months already, looking for a way to cross over to Europe. According to the Spanish media, he had tried several times to sneak into vehicles, a very common method in Ceuta and Melilla to try his luck.
According to El Faro De Ceuta: "In the vicinity of the port, there are dozens of immigrants, companions of the deceased, who nicknamed him "barefoot", although his name is actually Ilias E. He is a boy from Martil who had been in Ceuta for two months and who remained in the Port trying to sneak into vehicles."
This is the second death of an illegal immigrant recorded in the port of Ceuta since the beginning of the year. On January 15, another young Moroccan had also been killed while trying to hide under a truck. 24 years old, Soufiane was from the city of Fez, where he was buried with the transfer of his remains.
