Teen Suspect Arrested in Barcelona for String of Violent Rapes Against Older Women

The Catalan police forces have just identified a 17-year-old Moroccan minor as the main suspect in a series of rapes of six women aged 40 to 78 years old. He had already been arrested since December for other similar acts.
Following a complex investigation that required DNA tests, the police identified a 17-year-old Moroccan as the rapist of 6 women, aged 40 to 78 years old. Rapes of extreme violence.
The minor, whose identity has not been revealed, is currently placed in the government center of the Generalitat. He had already stayed there last summer, upon his arrival in Spain from Morocco.
Sources said he had frequently escaped from the center to commit rapes. The latter always took care to hide his face, these victims only managing to describe him as a young man of Arab origin with a strong build. The police could only identify him thanks to DNA traces.
Between October and December, the minor would have committed six rapes. Five of them in just 11 days. This precise series of rapes took place in the Poble Sec neighborhood of Barcelona, and had established a climate of great insecurity involving feminist organizations.
The reason for his arrest is another case of multiple rapes, this time in the Horta district and precisely in the parking lot of the Vall d’Hebron hospital.
