Teen Arrested in Casablanca for Impersonating Police Officer in Mask Fine Scam

A minor, who was posing as a police officer, was arrested by the (real) police officers of Casablanca. The young girl was collecting fines from citizens who were circulating without protective masks.

The fake policewoman was apprehended by the police of the Attacharouk district in Casablanca. She was collecting fines for not wearing protective masks from citizens she was scamming and threatening with arrest, reports the daily Assabah, which specifies that the defendant had in her possession a booklet of notices of fines.

The young girl was intercepting store owners and customers without protective masks, to whom she asked to pay a fine or accept going to prison. According to the newspaper, several victims had to pay 200 to 400 dirhams to avoid any arrest. The daily nature of this blackmail by the fake policewoman led some merchants to realize the deception and file a complaint for fraud with the police.

An investigation was opened, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office, and allowed the investigators to arrest the young girl in the act. She was presented this Saturday before the public prosecutor near the correctional court for usurpation of the function of a police officer, fraud, blackmail and illegal use of an official document.
