Teacher Arrested for Alleged Rape of Student in Moroccan City, Sparking Outrage

The city of Ait Melloul, near Agadir, is in turmoil after the rape of a student by a teacher. A 33-year-old art teacher was arrested last Wednesday by the police.
He is accused of having repeatedly raped his student and of having threatened her to do it again if she confided in her parents, reports the Hespress website. The girl’s parents had reported her disappearance to the police station after looking for her all day. Upon her return and under the insistence of her parents to know the reasons for this prolonged absence, she will explain that she was raped by her teacher.
The sexual assault and loss of virginity were confirmed by a medical certificate that was attached to the complaint, specifies the same source, according to which the parents of the 14-year-old girl are now wondering if the teacher has not assaulted other students at the school.
Note that the Moroccan Penal Code provides for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison for the rape of a minor, in addition to a fine of 200,000 dirhams.
