Taxi Driver Arrested in Agadir After Video Shows Assault on Women in Street

The police services of Agadir, in collaboration with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), have arrested a 42-year-old man for his alleged involvement in a case of violence against two women on public roads.
The suspect was apprehended after the circulation on social media of a video showing an individual assaulting two women in the street. The report specifies that the suspect is believed to be a taxi driver. Although no complaint or report had been filed regarding these acts, the competent authorities took up the case and opened an investigation, which led to the identification and arrest of the suspect.
According to the initial findings of the investigation, the accused assaulted a woman in the middle of the street, who happens to be his ex-girlfriend, after she refused to follow him. He also struck the woman who had intervened to prevent him from forcibly taking her away. A witness to the scene confirmed the facts.
After his arrest, the suspect was placed in custody as part of the judicial investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office. The identity of the two victims has been established. The investigation is ongoing to shed light on this case.
