Tangier Tourism Projects Stalled as New Investment Law Awaits Implementation

The adoption of a system of exceptional licenses to stimulate hotel and tourism projects in Tangier, in anticipation of the major sporting events to come, seems compromised.
Sources close to the regional investment office of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region have told Hespress that the implementation of this system "is not currently envisaged".
This blockage would be due to the wait for the implementing texts of the new investment law. A situation that, while appearing logical for some, is perceived by others as a brake on the development of major projects in the city.
This uncertainty adds to the difficulties encountered by investors, already faced with obstacles in obtaining the necessary authorizations. While they were hoping for a change of direction with the new year, the situation remains unclear.
At the end of 2024, entrepreneurs and investors had nevertheless expressed their optimism about the appointment of Yassine Tazi at the head of the Regional Investment Center of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima. They saw him as the man of the situation to get the region out of the impasse and relaunch the pending projects.
Yassine Tazi, an experienced manager, has proven himself at the head of the Regional Investment Center of Meknes-Fez. His appointment in Tangier, a region with high investment potential, had been seen as a positive signal.
