New Investment Chief Aims to Revitalize Northern Morocco's Economy

Business leaders and investors in northern Morocco have high expectations of Yassine Tazi, the new director of the Regional Investment Center (CRI) of the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region.

Yassine Tazi, who has succeeded in driving significant momentum in the Fès-Meknès region, where he headed the CRI, will he be able to meet the expectations of business leaders and investors in the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region? In a statement to Hespress, Rachid El Ouardighi, president of the Moroccan Business Council, said that many expectations rested on Yassine Tazi, particularly with regard to reviving the investment dynamics in this region.

According to his explanations, the appointment of the new director of the CRI of the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region comes within the framework of discussions on the imminent implementation of the Investment Charter dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises, which will further encourage the latter to invest. His wish, he said, is that the new manager will accelerate the processing of administrative procedures for companies.

The regional investment centers continue to face challenges related to the transition from their former status to an institution with independent budgets and decision-making powers, giving them greater leeway in the field of investment and the economy, said the regional secretary of the Moroccan Space of Professionals. He expects the new director to make considerable efforts to guide investment, "because this orientation determines the time and place of projects."

The official also noted that the center interacts in a "slow" manner, calling for accelerating the processing of files. He also called for an end to the discrimination suffered by Moroccan investors compared to foreign investors. He expects the new director to be able to put an end to bureaucracy, process pending files with transparency, and improve communication with investors. Yassine Tazi is aware of the enormity of the task ahead of him. He stated that investors and their representatives aspire to strengthen the trust between the administration and entrepreneurs, while continuing the work initiated by his predecessor, Jalal Benhayoun.
