Tangier Textile Factory Owner Jailed After Deadly Flood Kills 28 Workers

The owner of a textile workshop in Tangier, where many employees, mainly women, died following floods, has been sentenced to a prison term by the courts.
Thus, the court of first instance in Tangier sentenced the owner of this clandestine factory to one year in prison. He will also have to pay a fine of 1,000 dirhams.
The justice system also sentenced the company Amendis to pay a fine of 200,000 dirhams for each of the families of the 28 victims recorded.
On February 28, 28 employees of this factory were trapped by the flooding caused by the rains that had hit the city of Tangier. They caused a short circuit that was fatal for the workers. Alerted, the local authorities, the security services and the civil protection had gone to the scene and had been able to rescue about ten employees.
