As of this Saturday, February 1, 2025, only the biometric trust permit is authorized for taxis, the economic department of the Tangier-Assilah prefecture has indicated.
End of the use of paper trust permits in the Tangier-Assilah region. As of this Saturday, only biometric permits are valid, the prefecture department announced in a press release.
The objective of this measure is to organize the taxi sector in the region, in the perspective of the 2030 World Cup. Concretely, it aims to "modernize and digitize the services dedicated to taxis, as well as to facilitate the registration process of drivers at the control points provided for this purpose," it is specified.
The press release adds that "a specialized and leading company in this field has been mandated to supervise the replacement of paper trust permits with biometric permits, as well as to equip the control points with technological devices and modern information systems."
Three sites have been set up for the registration of taxis. These are the Tangier bus station, the taxi station on the Tetouan road (near the Autasa company) and the Assilah bus station, concludes the note.
