Tangier: a road that brings shame just steps away from the high-speed train

The situation contrasts with the modernization of the metropolis. A resident recalls that this area is located just a few hundred meters from the high-speed train station. Yet, the road has been deteriorating for three or four years. Rehabilitation attempts have taken place recently, with the excavation of the roadway and the laying of stones two months ago, but the machinery has left the site without proceeding with the final asphalting.

The arrival of winter has worsened the traffic conditions. The gaping holes are filled with water, turning the road into a succession of deep puddles. Taxi drivers complain about the damage caused to their vehicles on this section that they use daily, describing it now as a narrow passage rather than a functional urban road.

The consequences are also economic. Merchants struggle to transport their goods. Some store owners claim they are forced to close their shutters during rainy episodes due to the flooding, and call on local officials to complete this construction site to restore normal traffic.
