Tangier Revolutionizes Parking: Digital Reform Bans Boots, Prioritizes Accessibility

The city of Tangier has announced the entry into force of decision no. 2022/1357 relating to the organization of paid parking within the framework of delegated management.
This new system aims to improve traffic flow, rationalize the use of public space and guarantee equal access to parking for all citizens, said the municipality of Tangier in a press release. One of the flagship measures of this reform is the formal ban on the use of boots - a decision hailed as a turning point in terms of respecting the rights of motorists.
The freedom of movement will be fully preserved, while ensuring effective regulation thanks to a new approach based on digitalization and the intelligent use of data, specifies the same source. The municipality intends to meet the specific needs of certain users. In this sense, it has planned preferential subscription formulas for the benefit of residents and merchants.
The municipality has also made parking free for people with disabilities, with dedicated spaces, in compliance with the principles of inclusion and equity.
These new rules will come into effect from July 9th. The municipality has mobilized significant human and technical resources to ensure the proper application of these provisions. It plans to deploy sworn agents, technological equipment, as well as signage that complies with international standards in the areas concerned.
