Tangier Poised for Major Upgrades Ahead of 2030 World Cup

The city of Tangier hopes to receive a substantial envelope to finance infrastructure and equipment projects, in order to best accommodate the final phases of the 2030 World Cup.
According to anonymous sources cited by Hespress, the budget allocated to the modernization of the "Pearl of the North" could exceed that of the "Tangier Metropolis" program, perhaps reaching 15 billion dirhams, or double the initially planned amount.
A meeting is scheduled soon to discuss the situation. The Wali of the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region, Younès Tazi, the mayor of the city, Mounir Laymouri, and the presidents of the four districts should be present.
This information follows the low score attributed to the city by FIFA. The Tangerois, dissatisfied, have pointed the finger at the officials and elected representatives, holding them responsible for the current state of the city, deemed insufficient to accommodate the many tourists expected during the competition.
