Tangier Named Second Most Affordable Global Travel Destination for Budget Tourists

Tangier ranks second in the ranking of affordable destinations to visit on a tight budget, established by the travel specialist site The Travel. The best months to visit this Moroccan city are between May and September. Marshan and the medina are the best neighborhoods where travelers can stay. Tourists are advised to eat street food and negotiate the taxi fare before getting into the car to save money.

"Travelers dreaming of visiting Spain but thinking the costs are a bit out of reach can look further south, venturing into North Africa. The city of Tangier, Morocco, is just across the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain and offers affordable accommodation, local food, and transportation. It’s a big city, but a half-hour train ride away, travelers can explore the small town of Asilah," the site recommends.

Quito, the capital of Ecuador, tops the ranking of affordable destinations to visit on a tight budget. Ksamil, a village and former municipality of the Albanian Riviera of the South, completes the top 3. Medellín, Colombia is in fourth place on the podium. Then come Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Istanbul (Turkey). Siem Reap (Cambodia), Puerto Vallarta (Mexico) and Antigua (Guatemala) close out the podium.
