Tangier Deploys Drones to Combat Illegal Construction in High-Risk Areas

The authorities in the Tangier region have launched a large-scale operation to monitor high-risk areas of anarchic construction. Drones equipped with high-resolution cameras are now regularly flying over many neighborhoods.
This is the case, for example, of the neighborhoods of Mesnana, Charf, Mghogha and many others, indicates the site Al3omk, according to which, this initiative of the State aims to detect any infringement of urban planning regulations.
Decided by Wali Younès Tazi, the measure aims to curb a phenomenon that seriously threatens the balance of the built environment and jeopardizes the safety of residents. Thanks to aerial images, it is now possible to detect the slightest changes in the urban landscape and identify illegal constructions even before they are completed.
The images captured by the drones have already made it possible to detect many cases of wild constructions. In Hay Benkirane, for example, an urban planning commission ordered the demolition of a set of floors erected in violation of the local urban plan.
In recent years, many buildings have been demolished in Tangier and its region in order, among other things, to clean up the coastline and effectively combat anarchic constructions.
