Tangier Airport Sees 77% Surge in Traffic, Ranks 3rd in Morocco

For the year 2021, Tangier airport managed to rank 3rd nationally in terms of air traffic, behind Casablanca and Marrakech.
This figure is attributable to the development of domestic air traffic and also to the special flights recorded by the Tangier platform, according to the National Airports Office (ONDA), specifying that the commercial volume of the airport has jumped by around 77%.
In detail, a little more than 868,000 travelers transited through its tarmac, or 9.54% of the total traffic, while there were less than half a million in 2020, the year the Moroccan sky was closed. Despite the upward trend and the recovery of market shares, the level remains far from the 1.35 million passengers recorded in 2019, and even the one million travelers recorded two years earlier.
According to the office’s figures, the first place in the ranking goes to Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca with 43.34% of traffic share. It is followed by Marrakech-Menara Airport with 14.26%.
