Moroccan Airports See 70% Passenger Recovery as Air Travel Rebounds

Since the reopening of the airspace on February 7 and until March 31, Moroccan airports have welcomed 2.22 million passengers through 21,330 flights, according to figures released by the National Airports Office (ONDA).
In March alone, Moroccan airports recorded a commercial traffic volume of 1,452,030 passengers in 13,543 flights, a recovery rate of 70% for passengers and 80% for airport movements compared to the same period in 2019, the ONDA said in a statement.
The Mohammed V airport welcomed 565,484 passengers through 5,330 flights during the same month, representing 71% of passenger traffic and 75% of airport movements recorded in March 2019. The highest rates were recorded by the airports in the North and Oriental regions. They experienced recovery rates exceeding 100%.
In detail, Tanger-Ibn Batouta airport welcomed 110,154 passengers (recovery rate of 113%), Oujda-Angad airport recorded 61,992 passengers (137%), Nador El Aroui airport recorded 61,843 passengers (116%) and Tetouan airport had 16,600 travelers (1,565%).
Except for the markets of South America and the Maghreb countries, all other markets recorded recovery rates above 65% compared to 2019. Europe, which represents more than 82% of international air traffic, recorded a recovery rate of around 66% compared to 2019.
