Tanger Med Port Hosts Multiple Repatriation Voyages for Europeans Stranded in Morocco

Saturday 23 May 2020, by Bladi.net

The Spanish embassy in Rabat has announced the organization of four boat trips from the port of Tanger Med to Malaga. The trips are intended for the repatriation of Spaniards and Moroccans residing in Spain on May 22, 26, and 28 and June 4. The repatriation will be provided by the Balearia company.

The port of Tangier Med is in high demand for the repatriation of European tourists. Four trips are planned for Spaniards stranded in Morocco in the coming days. Many ship movements will be recorded at the port of Tanger-Med. The repatriation, long awaited by the Spaniards and residents stranded in Morocco due to the coronavirus, will be provided by the Balearia company, reports L’Économiste. These four trips follow an initial repatriation that had concerned Spanish citizens. It was intended exclusively for the sick or a family member in Spain.

For the upcoming trips, Spaniards and stranded residents with their vehicles are a priority, while others are for pedestrians. As for the French embassy, it reports that on May 12, a first ferry from the GNV company, bound for Sète, had left Tangier. Only people with vehicles registered in Europe were allowed to board the boat chartered by the Spanish authorities. Travelers without vehicles, still stranded in Morocco, did not appreciate their exclusion from this trip.
