Tanger Med Industrial Hub Maintains Operations Despite COVID-19 Challenges

The covid-19 crisis has not slowed down activities within the Tanger Med industrial platform and at the port level. Whether in the pharmaceutical, renewable energy, aeronautics, automotive, plastics, agri-food, or packaging and services sectors, life is proceeding normally.
Even if activities in Tanger Med are proceeding normally and without interruption, it must be recognized that compliance with the health safety measures indicated by the Ministry of Health and the WHO is mandatory. "The business continuity plan has been implemented efficiently and organized in order to make available to employees, partners and industrial customers, all the necessary information during this period, as well as all the essential protective equipment," says Ilham Khalil, director of Tanger Free Zone, who specifies that "the administrations remain active and that the management of flows for imports and exports is optimized to meet the continuous demand of industrial operators".
Several actions have been taken in the industrial platform. These include "taking body temperature and distributing masks and gloves to administrations, employees, service providers, and other stakeholders within the zones, respecting social distancing through delimited spaces on the ground, reducing the number of passengers in means of transport, disinfecting means of transport and common areas (roads, sidewalks, easements, facades, etc.), awareness-raising through posters and signage within administrations and zones".
It should also be noted that several actions have been taken by industrialists. These include "reducing operational employees, providing personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, hydroalcoholic gel, etc.), implementing social distancing measures at the production lines".
The Tanger Med industrial platform has nearly 1,000 export-oriented companies and more than 80,000 jobs. This industrial hub is backed by the Tanger Med port complex.
