The German police managed to intercept a suspicious car at the border with Austria. A 25-year-old Syrian national, accompanied by a 21-year-old Moroccan woman, wanted to smuggle the sum of 1.1 million euros.
The two young people trying to cross the German border had carefully hidden the large amount in their Audi car.
A thorough search of the vehicle allowed the police to recover the fortune, the origin of which could not be determined by the police services. The latter suspects a money laundering operation.
The two young people were released by the authorities, without facing legal proceedings, while the money was confiscated on the orders of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
