Germany Launches New Immigration Law to Ease Foreign Worker Entry

Germany has enacted a new immigration law, in order to attract qualified foreign workers and make access to the labor market easier for certain profiles. This law came into effect on Sunday, March 1, 2020.
"Fachkräftezuwanderungsgesetz". This is the new German immigration law. It "expands the possibilities for qualified professionals to come and work in Germany". In fact, it appears "easier for foreign workers, with degrees obtained outside the European Union, to settle in Germany with the aim of working," says "Make it in Germany." This is a website launched by the authorities to support the new system.
With this new law, Germany intends to attract workers in sectors where there is a glaring shortage of labor, such as elderly care, IT and engineering. The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry also points out that one and a half million positions would not be filled in the long term in Germany if the country did not succeed in reversing the trend.
The law will also allow any person who obtains a job offer in these sectors to obtain a driver’s license.
